Degrees and Certifications:
HELLO! Thanks for stopping in! My name is Julia Worster and I am very excited to be teaching 6th grade math and science at Alder Creek Middle School.
I grew up in a little town called North Fork, near Bass Lake, South of Yosemite. This is where my love for the mountains and all their offerings began. My parents, three brothers and I spent summers backpacking through the backcountry of the southern Sierra Nevada. Many of my fondest memories of my childhood come from those trips.
I moved to the ocean for college attending UC Santa Barbara. Through my studies there, I earned a degree in Environmental Studies. After college I became a raft guide the South Fork of the American River, which led me to Truckee for the winters and as an outdoor educator on the shores of Lake Tahoe. Rafting and kayaking took me on many adventures including raft guiding in Otta, Norway and kayaking and rafting the White Nile of Uganda. I have been in the Tahoe/Truckee area for over 13 years, loving all the outdoor activities that it has to offer. Some of my favorites are skiing, mountain biking and stand up paddleboarding.
I completed my teacher education through Sierra Nevada College in 2009 and have taught middle school math and science at several different schools in the region, including charter, private and public. I love sharing my passion for both math and science with students and helping them achieve their true potential.
I have two glorious children, Sage and Aurora who have brought more joy to my life than I ever could have imagined. My husband, Lorenzo, and I love sharing our adventures with our children.
