Degrees and Certifications:
As a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno and a lifelong traveler throughout the Truckee and Lake Tahoe area, I am thrilled to call Truckee my home. My teaching career began well over a decade ago when I started as a bilingual preschool teacher and propelled through all elementary grade levels.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature with a minor in writing from UNR, I attended California State University Sacramento where I earned a post-baccalaureate elementary education teaching credential and a supplemental credential to teach middle school English. Teaching at the middle school level has become my passion, and I have spent the past eight years teaching an array of subjects including English, Spanish, and Journalism. In addition to teaching, I have coached a variety of sports and have been a freelance writer for various newspapers and magazines.
When I am not teaching, I am spending my time with my three most favorite people on the planet, my husband, daughter, and son. We can be found traveling across countries, mountain biking trails, paddle-boarding, and skiing and snowboarding as many mountains as we can. Our black lab, Brutus, warms our hearts. Soccer occupies a lot of our time. When we aren't watching our kids play matches on local pitches, we can be found watching the professionals.
I am thrilled to join this incredible staff and teach at ACMS!
