Amy is incredibly excited to be teaching 6th grade math and science at ACMS! Amy started her career teaching 6th grade in Fairfax County, Virginia. She spent 4 years teaching in Fairfax, expanding to 4th and 5th grades, and earned her Master's degree at George Mason University. Taking advantage of a job relocation, she and her husband moved to San Francisco, and Amy found Reed Union District in Tiburon, teaching 4th and 5th grades. After taking some time off to raise her two children, Amy taught 6th grade at Bullis Charter School in Los Altos, CA for five years. Over the course of her career, Amy has been involved in many leadership and growth opportunities, such as taking on the role of Team Leader and working on projects such as Strategic Planning, and was honored to receive the Golden Bell Award in Marin County, Teacher of the Year at Green Acres Elementary in Fairfax, VA, and Teacher of the Year in the Reed Union School District. She was happy to find more opportunities in teaching through helping to develop the growth of the 6th grade program in her last middle school, being involved in developing a middle school math program and writing assessments, and being a mentor to teachers new to the classroom. In her free time, you can find Amy and her husband trying to keep up with their 10 year old and 14 year old on skis, or taking advantage of the many biking opportunities in this beautiful area of the country. Amy is thrilled to be a part of the ACMS community!
