Substitute Teacher Applicants
Thank you for your interest in Substitute Teaching. California Education laws require a valid California Credential and/or a Substitute Teacher Permit.

- We are unable to approve applications with expiring credentials or permits
- Our office will review your application and verify your credential
- Your application will be reviewed for approval by the Executive Director of Human Resources
- Once approved, our technician will contact you for an in-person appointment
- Your Credential or Permit must be valid for the current school year
- Renew online at www.ctc.ca.gov prior to submitting your application

Instructions for Obtaining a Substitute Teaching Permit Without a California Credential
- Substitute Permit Requirements: Substitute Permit Requirements and CTC Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit
- Substitute Permit processing times are approximately 50 days from the time of submission
- Substitute Pay Beginning March 1, 2023

Daily Certificated Rate $200 per day = 6.5 hours full day/$100 half day = 3 Hours 29 minutes per day

Retired TTUSD Certificated Teacher Rate = $220 per day/$110 half day = 3 Hours 29 minutes per day

Long Term Certificated Rate $240 per day Beginning the 11th Day of Employment for the Same Teacher/Group of Students

Substitute Pay for a Certificated Substitute with a Valid Credential accepting an assignment for a Classified Instructional Assistant Special Education is Range 13/Step 5 of the Classified Salary Schedule

- Substitute Bonus Incentive (Paid at Each Increment)
- 25 days = $50; 50 days = $75; 75 days = $100; 100 days = $125; 125 days = $150; 150 days = $200; 175 days = $250
