Applying for a Work Permit
Students under the age of 18 must possess a valid work permit when employed. The application is not your work permit, it must be filled out by your current employer and signed by your parent or guardian before the work permit will be issued. Bring the completed application to the Registrar, Ms. Blanca-Elena Carrillo, for verification of requirements met. Ms. Carrillo will then issue you a separate work permit document for each application. During the school year, typically from September through June, students must have good attendance and maintain a 2.0 GPA with no F's. Please allow 24 hours for processing during the school year.
*Work Permits will be delayed during NTHS fall semester grading period and graduation. Please allow two to three days for processing during these times.
Work Permits expire typically two weeks before the end of every school year. If work permits are issued in the summer, they expire after the first week of the new school year. You must apply for a new work permit every year even if you have maintained the same job.
Students may hold more than one job as long as the combined hours do not exceed the designated hours allowed for the student’s current age. A separate Work Permit must be obtained for each job with a different employer.
Students from another school district may also submit their permit application to the Registrar along with a birth certificate, passport, or copy of a driver's license if applicable.
STUDENT MUST BE PRESENT TO PICK UP AND SIGN THE ACTUAL WORK PERMIT THAT IS TO BE ISSUED AT THE APPOINTMENT NOT THE APPLICATION YOU ARE TURNING IN.
