Overview of Systems Programming Pathway

  • CTE Pathways are programs of study aligned around a CTE Industry Sector Theme that prepare students for College and Career. The Systems Programming Pathway consists of two consecutive courses.

    • Computer Science This course is an introduction to computer science and computer programming for students with no prior experience. Students will learn about the JavaScript language and learn to write their own graphic programs and games.
    • AP Computer Science AP Computer Science A is equivalent to a first-semester, college level course in computer science. The course introduces students to computer science with fundamental topics that include problem solving, design strategies and methodologies, organization of data (data structures), approaches to processing data (algorithms), analysis of potential solutions, and the ethical and social implications of computing. The course emphasizes both object-oriented and imperative problem solving and design using Java language.
    • Postsecondary Level The Systems Programming Pathway leads toward the Mechatronics program at Sierra College.
