California State Standards
The California Content Standards outline what students in California public schools from Kindergarten through twelfth grade are expected to know and be able to do in each grade level. These standards ensure that all students graduate with the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in college, careers, and beyond.
For Language Arts and Mathematics, the State of California has adopted the national Common Core State Standards (CCSS). These national standards define what students should know and demonstrate in these subjects at each grade level. California has added its own unique aspects to the CCSS to better reflect the state's educational goals. For additional information, visit the California Department of Education CCSS webpage.
The California Department of Education has adopted standards for all other subjects including, but not limited to Social Studies, Science and Physical Education. For content and grade level specific standards, visit the California Department of Education Content Standards webpage.
