District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)

Every California school district with many English Learner (EL) students has a DELAC committee. This committee is your voice in ensuring EL students get the support they need to succeed!

Who's on the DELAC?

• School staff (teachers, administrators)
• Parents of EL students
• Other parents and community members who care about EL Education

What does the DELAC do?

• Advises the school board on programs and services for EL students
• Helps develop a plan to meet the needs of EL students across the district
• Review important documents like reclassification procedures and parent notifications

Why is the DELAC important?

• The DELAC allows parents and community members to get involved in their child's education.
• By working together, the DELAC and school board can create effective programs to help EL students reach their full potential.
