Math
The Tahoe-Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD) is committed to providing students with a strong foundation in mathematics. To achieve this, we have implemented a comprehensive math curriculum that fosters a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and prepares students for future success.
Our Current Math Curriculum
-
Elementary Schools: TTUSD elementary schools utilize the Eureka Math² program. This curriculum provides a solid foundation in mathematical concepts through a clear and structured approach.
-
Middle and High Schools: Our middle and high schools implement Carnegie Math. This program offers a personalized learning experience that caters to individual student strengths and weaknesses.
A Rigorous Selection Process
TTUSD adopted its current math curriculum - Eureka Math2 and Carnegie Math - after a thorough and transparent evaluation process. Beginning in the 2022/2023 school year, a dedicated committee of experienced TTUSD math teachers and administrators spent a year and a half identifying and evaluating curricula through a pilot program in the 2023/2024 school year. They incorporated feedback from teachers, parents, and students and evaluated assessment data and correlations between state assessments that measure student learning and effectiveness. This information and the committee's robust expertise in math education helped them make an informed decision that best aligns with our students’ needs and learning goals.
Ultimately, the committee made this recommendation because they felt the new curriculum would support student mastery of math content more effectively and provide a clear and coherent progression of the necessary concepts.
We would like to thank and recognize the members of this teacher committee, who should be upheld as content experts. They handled a difficult and complex process with tremendous care, thoughtfulness, and open-mindedness.

Benefits for Students
By implementing these programs, TTUSD aims to achieve the following benefits for our students:
-
Strong Mathematical Foundation: Students will develop a deep understanding of core mathematical concepts.
-
Improved Problem-Solving Skills: The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are applicable inside and outside the classroom.
-
Increased Confidence: Students will gain confidence in their ability to approach and solve complex math problems.
