ALICE Safety Protocols
What is ALICE?
After a great deal of research on how to best address armed intruder training for school sites and staff, we adopted and implemented a comprehensive training program called ALICE. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate. The ALICE training standard takes a departure from the traditional lockdown process that was in place in the District. ALICE embraces active decision making on the part of the staff and older students to address an armed intruder including an active shooter situation or threatening scenario.
On November 12 and 13, 2024, Superintendent Kramer hosted TTUSD School Safety Nights at Truckee and lakeside schools. Families learned how TTUSD is keeping students safe, including how we partner with local law enforcement. Truckee Police Department and Placer County Sheriffs, were onsite to share their emergency preparedness and expertise!
If you missed the events, don’t worry. Watch the recordings below to learn about our safety protocols, including our Comprehensive Safety Plans, threat response procedures, ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate), and tips for talking to your child about safety.
