Substance Use Navigator (SUN)
This part-time, grant-funded position began in October 2025, with the mission to strengthen our student safety net by providing a specialized focus—proactively preventing substance use, delivering early interventions, and seamlessly connecting students to specialized care when they need it most.
The SUN is a confidential resource designed to serve as a bridge between schools, families, and community supports, helping ensure students receive timely, coordinated, and compassionate care.
Students are encouraged to reach out if they have concerns about themselves, a friend, or a family member. TTUSD Staff and families are encouraged to reach out to help support a student who may be needing support. The SUN can help with:
-
Guidance and Education: Addressing questions about substances, peer pressure, coping skills, and harm reduction.
-
Support and Connection: Connecting students with the right resources and support when they need it most.
-
Additional Needs: Providing a safe space if students are seeking information, looking to make positive changes, are returning to school after time away for treatment, or simply need someone to talk to.
