Student Data Privacy
The Tahoe Truckee Unified School District takes sudent privacy seriously. Students, parents, schools, and our community each plays a role in protecting personally identifiable student information. The district utilizes an internal process to review applications, digital services, and websites used by teachers to make sure they legally abide by federal and state laws.
Student Data protections are governed by the following federal and state laws:
- AB 1584 / EC 49073.1 - Privacy of Pupil Records
- SOPIPA - Student Online Personal Information Protection Act
- CIPA - Children's Internet Protection Act
- COPPA - Children's Online Privacy Protection Act
- FERPA - Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
- HIPAA - Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act

As a parent/guardian you have the right to request the district not release directory information. For more information and to request to opt out, please submit your request in writing to your school site secretary.
