Ms. Kelsee Kennedy
Hello! My name is Kelsee Kennedy and the 2018-2019 school year marks my first year at Tahoe Lake Elementary. I am so excited to be a part of such an amazing team! I hold two education specialist teaching credentials for exceptional learners with mild, moderate, and high support needs. In my role as an education specialist, I team with children, families, service providers, and my teaching colleagues to support students in reaching their fullest potential. I am also a doctoral candidate and teaching assistant at the University of California, Santa Barbara. I am interested in Social Emotional Learning Supports for exceptional learners. I also enjoy supporting the teacher education program at UCSB by providing teacher candidates with guidance and feedback on best practices to support the exceptional learners in their classrooms in regard to literacy instruction and adaptations.
For the past 5 years, I have worked as an inclusion specialist for the Santa Barbara County Education Office where I was placed at Montecito Union School. I also worked for 6 years as a program supervisor and clinician through the Koegel Autism Center at UCSB. In these roles, I facilitated academic supports, IEP development and oversight, and social inclusion through the development of social skills lunch programs for students with autism and their peers. I have also supported parents in developing home and community-based supports for their children. I am passionate about supporting, learning from, and teaching self-advocacy skills to exceptional learners and their families.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé Bryce, our orange tabby cat, Sunny, and our basset hound puppy, Winnie. For fun, I enjoy hiking, skiing, kayaking, yoga, and playing the trumpet. Please feel free reach out if you have any questions!
