Degrees and Certifications:
Lena Meyer has loved music for as long as she can remember, and grew up playing the piano and the French horn. Lena attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff with a major in music education. During that time, she also played French horn in the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra. After college, Lena taught elementary and middle school band and music in Scottsdale, Arizona. In 2010, she relocated to Lake Tahoe to be the band director at North Tahoe School, where she taught band and jazz band for six years. Most recently, Lena was the music teacher at both Tahoe Expedition Academy and Forest Charter School. Lena has participated in many different types of groups in her career as a musician, from marching band to brass quintets to choir to handbell choir. In 2013, she began playing the trombone with Tahoe local gypsy-swing band Sneaky Creatures. She holds an M.A. in Music from the American Band College and has been an active member of both the Arizona and the California Music Educators Associations. When Ms. Meyer is not teaching, she enjoys spending time outside, planting flowers, playing songs on the guitar, and going on adventures with her dog.
