Mrs. Denise Paquette
Reading Intervention Teacher
HI, I'm Denise Paquette and I have worked at Truckee Elementary since 2019, but have been an educator in Truckee since 2010. Currently, I am a Reading Intervention teacher at TES. I am excited to be working with our Cubs on their literacy acquisition and skills.
Mission: I am dedicated to providing students with a safe and enriching learning environment that lends itself to motivated learners. My main focus is to support students with their reading skills while encouraging a love for reading.
Teaching Career: I obtained a BA in Communication Studies from Sacramento State University and a Multiple- and Single- Subject (Language Arts) teaching credential from National University. I began my teaching career in 2007 in Sacramento, California, teaching 7th grade Language Arts/ Social Science. Due to my love of the outdoors and the lifestyle of living in the mountains, I moved to Truckee in 2009. Within the past 14 years, I have been a Reading Specialist at a local public charter school, job shared with Kindergarten and ELD at TES, and have substitute taught in the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD). In addition, I taught 3 years of Summer Scholars, K-CAmp for TTUSD.
Hobbies and interests: When I am not teaching, I am spending time outdoors with my two children and husband. During the winter we enjoy activities such as downhill skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, sledding and more. During the warmer months we are usually hiking, swimming, biking and camping all over California.
