Mrs. Krista Strecker

Instructional Coach

I am grateful everyday to work with teachers, families, and students in the TTUSD community. My interest in education first started while I was studying literature in Brazil.  After learning about challenges for low-income students accessing public education, my first involvement was coordinating the establishment of three community schools around the city of Rio de Janeiro.  When I returned home, I pursued a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Education and continued to support traditionally underserved communities near Oakland and later in Castroville. I first started teaching in this area at Truckee High School. Since then, I have continued to grow as a professional and earned a second Master of Science degree in Administrative Leadership. This pursuit allowed me to work with younger students in our area as one of two summer principals for our K Camp and Summer Scholars' programs. Currently, I have the honor of serving our teachers as a thinking partner and Instructional Coach at both Truckee Elementary School and North Tahoe School which allows me to witness the excellence in many of our district's classrooms.

When I am not geeking out on educational theory, I love long runs, riding my mountain bike, and skiing with friends and family. I am driven every day by the sage-like wisdom of Ms. Frizzle:  "Take chances, make mistakes, and get messy!"
