Ms. Krista Strecker

The first detail you need to know about me is that I love TTUSD and our students, families, and community! How lucky are we to be a part of this community?

I am committed to ongoing and research-informed professional development, data driven decision making, and cultural connections; moreover, my commitment to collaboration and growth mindset enables me to be an engaged part of an educational community that already has so much to celebrate.

I have experience teaching in a variety of settings: urban, rural, linguistically diverse and socio-economically diverse schools at both the middle and high school levels.  I have coached both elementary and middle school teachers, planned and facilitated professional development, and have acted as a mentor teacher; I have a passion for growing the capacity of others. Beyond the classroom, I have worked directly for the California Department of Education and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (the Literacy Design Collaborative), and the New Teacher Project developing curriculum and performance assessment tools shared with teachers across the state.  I have been entrusted as a fellow of the California Writing Project ISAW Leadership team tasked with improving students’ analytical writing.  Additionally, I have researched and tested standards-referenced reporting and trained teachers throughout Tahoe Truckee Unified on how to identify and celebrate not only technical change, but adaptive change that comes with major theoretical and pedagogical shifts in practice.  I have both a masters in Secondary Education and a second masters in the Science of Administrative Leadership with preliminary experience implementing this learning while leading summer programs targeting literacy intervention and academic discourse for struggling students for Tahoe Truckee.

I wholeheartedly believe in the power of the culture that exists in Tahoe Truckee Unified School District as well as our unified commitment to all students and am honored to cooperatively explore how I can further grow the capacity of our kids.

When I'm not geeking on education, I love riding my bike, going on long runs, and skiing in the winter. Please say hi when you see me in town, whether it be on the trails, in the supermarket, or at a THS sports or arts event!
