Hi, I'm Maya Perez Gainey and I am very excited for the opportunity to teach 5th grade at Truckee El. It's a privilege to be part of a school community that holds a deep commitment to the well-being of students and families. I've had the opportunity to teach in a variety of classrooms, spanning from San Diego, Ca and Houston, Texas to the vibrant city of Cartagena, Columbia. My teaching philosophy is to ensure all my students receive an excellent education, feel loved and supported, and are challenged to be curious leaders. I thrive on building meaningful relationships and creating a sense of family with my team, students, and families. Outside of school, I love being in nature and spending time outdoors. I love to read, go on hiking adventures with my husband and practice yoga.
