About Ms. Hartung: 
Ms. Hartung graduated from Ohio University with degrees in Health and Human Services and Family and Consumer Science. Her culinary credits come from a wide variety of community colleges and extended education units.  She is a certified ProStart teacher and attends industry and educational conferences regularly. She has worked in and out of the food industry beginning with her first job at 15 years old at Chuck E Cheese. When she was younger, she enjoyed the front of the house, but as her skills in the kitchen grew, so did her desire to stay in the back. She maintains professional contacts within the culinary profession and enjoys working with local chefs during the summer months. Her deepest desire is that her students walk away from every class with a new or renewed appreciation of food.

Ms. Hartung moved to Lake Tahoe in 1996, "just for a season"... and never left. She loves the vibrant lifestyle and feels blessed to live in a town that promotes the importance of exercise and healthy food choices. For some.... cooking is a passion.  For others.... a career. For others... a necessary evil! She feels so lucky in life to have found a profession that mirrors her passions: youth, food, and teaching!
