Mrs. Carolyn Stewart

Science Specialist for kindergarten-fifth grade students

As an educator for more than 30 years, I am living my passion as the Science Specialist at Truckee Elementary. Each week, more than 500 students visit our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) Lab where they engage in Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) “hands-on” experiences. Students study and care for the Tower Garden and lab animals: three bearded dragons, a leopard gecko, a yellow eared slider turtle, two African frogs and a guinea pig.

I enjoy every day in the science lab with my curious students! Our lab is an active place where we question, explore, and learn about our world.

Before coming to the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District in 1996, I lived and taught in the San Francisco Bay Area. My love for the mountains, outdoor education and all things Science, led me to Truckee.

When I'm not in the lab, I enjoy running and Nordic skiing on the trails around Truckee, reading, traveling, and hanging out with my husband and my two adult children.
