TTUSD and TTEA reached a tentative agreement that was brought to the School Board on October 20, 2021. At that meeting, the School Board unanimously approved the tentative 2021-2022 Agreement with TTEA for a 5% ongoing raise. This raise is retroactive to July 1, 2021.
TTUSD is able to offer this level of increase, based on the following:
There were additional increases in our estimated property tax revenues in 2021 - 2022 compared to our original budget (a total of $1.15 Million).
One-Time Expanded Learning Grants and ESSER IIII funding allowed us to temporarily offset some expenditures normally funded with our regular General Fund.
We also saw significant savings in 2020-2021 as a result of COVID-19 which allowed the District to acquire a healthier Reserve for Economic Uncertainty.
October 6, 2021 - Update from TTUSD
Last week the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District and the Tahoe Truckee Education Association exchanged topics for the 2021-2022 school year. The District opened Articles 4 – Hours of Employment, Article 12 – Health and Welfare Benefits, and Article 13 – Wages. TTEA opened Article 12 and Article 13. The Board of Education will hold a public hearing on these topics at their October 6, 2021, special Board meeting.
Today both teams met its first time for 2021-2022. At the end of today’s meeting, the District and TTEA were on the same page and very close to a conceptual agreement.
The parties are optimistic that we will conclude bargaining next week.
